Development Associate

Position Summary
The Development Associate position calls for an individual who will write and submit funding solicitations, letters of intent (LOI), proposals, applications, and grant reports to corporations, foundations, and individuals that support student scholarships, operational support for campuses, and diversity programs. They will also work closely with the two OFIC Vice Presidents of Development and members of the OFIC Scholarship Team.
The position is full-time (40 hours/week), Monday through Friday, and reports to the President of OFIC. After an onboarding period and at the discretion of the supervisor, the position may work remotely, but the expectation is that the person in this position will live in Ohio and participate in OFIC events and staff activities typically held in central Ohio. Salary Range
$45,000/year - $60,000/year
Responsibilities
Writes and submits funding solicitations, letters of intent (LOI), proposals, applications, and donor grant reports to corporations, foundations, and individuals that support funding priorities including student scholarships, operational support for campuses, and diversity programs.
For more complex grant proposals, the position will work in concert with the Regional Vice Presidents of Development.
Research to acquire new donors and manages a set of assigned donor prospects and will help keep in regular contact with donors throughout the annual campaign.
Maintains the accuracy and integrity of grant proposal prospects and donors in database by ensuring that all information is kept current, proposal submission and grant report dates are met.
Management of campaign solicitation correspondence on a regular basis including written solicitations, follow up solicitations, pledge reminders, and ongoing gift acknowledgements.
Working with OFIC staff, create and execute stewardship activities that will properly acknowledge donor support, provide creative approaches to thanking donors, and enhance how donors engage with students and campuses so that they know their gifts are appreciated and important.
As an extension of donor stewardship, this position will collaborate with the OFIC Scholarship Team to ensure that donor scholarship agreements are in place, scholar selection criteria are maximized, donors are notified of their student scholar selections, and student thank you letters are distributed.
Oversees the sending of emails, letters, and other materials to donors and potential donors regarding OFIC and their support or potential support.
Performs basic administrative duties such as grant-related data entry, scanning donor-related documents (e.g., grant submissions, award notices, grant reports, etc.).
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree preferred (may be substituted by relevant experience); minimum two years prior experience, preferably with a fundraising/development/higher education organization; grant writing/management will help the candidate to excel in the position; proficiency in Microsoft apps (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience in Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge NXT, or other CRM database; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects; ability to work both independently and on a team; excellent interpersonal skills; and, demonstrate a professional demeanor whether speaking to others in person, over the phone, via email or through letters.
