Meet Dr. Timothy Collins - OFIC Trustee Spotlight

Dr. Timothy Collins is the President of Walsh University and serves on The Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges (OFIC) Board of Trustees.

Collins has served as President for Walsh University for the past four years and has had quite the variety of career changes throughout his life. From fighter pilot in the Air Force to conducting research at Johns Hopkins University, he lives by the motto of ‘it is okay to change the nature of your purpose.’

“There is nothing you’re going to do that is going to sign you up to do it for the rest of your life,” he said.

When asked how Walsh University prepares its students for the work field, Collins replied that the college does more than just get their future graduates ready for a job. Students will complete at least two majors: a study of their choice and a core education that will teach them how to thrive in life.

“We are here to prepare you for a career, but also for your life’s purpose,” Collins said.

Walsh University was recently recognized by the National Science Board as the first in the nation to activate the concept of how higher education institutions can directly impact the upscaling of 36 million Americans that do not have a 4-year degree. They are leading the nation in upscaling the American workforce in a new way.

The university’s football team is also number two in NCAA D2 for community service hours.
