SJE, Inc. Foundation Scholarship Program

Eligibility:
Qualified applicants must be:
Children* or grandchildren up to the age of 25 or spouses of full-time employees of SJE Inc. and its subsidiaries who have a minimum of six-months of employment with the company as of the application deadline date. Months of uninterrupted service with a business purchased by SJE Inc. count toward meeting the requirement.
Children of a retired** employee or the child of an employee who passed away while at SJE Inc. It is the responsibility of families of retired or deceased employees to keep the Scholarship Program Coordinator informed of any address changes.
High school seniors or graduates who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school.
* Children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren.
** Retired is defined as an employee’s age at retirement plus years of SJE Inc. employment equaling the sum of 70.
Awards:
The authorized distribution for new awards is $8,000.
Eight $1,000 awards will be given to the top-ranking applicants.
Financial need will not be considered.
Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. A student may receive up to four awards.

Deadline for applications is 11:59 p.m. EST, Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
Selection criteria:
Scholarship Management Resources (SMR) is administering this program for the SJE Foundation. Scholarship recipients will be chosen by SMR selection committee with consideration for applicant’s academic attainment/potential, leadership and participation in school and community, work experience, career and educational aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and letter of recommendation. Financial need will not be considered.
SJE Foundation has partnered with SMR, an independent scholarship services provider, to establish and administer this scholarship program including selecting the recipients. This ensures the selection process is fair and objective based on the criteria above.
Applicants will receive decisions in June. Scholarships will be distributed to winners’ campuses in July.
