OFIC ELECTS GREITZER, MALONE, MARSHALL AND THRESHER
TO BOARD OF TRUSTEES

At its Annual Meeting, held in April, The Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges (OFIC) announced the election of four new members to its Board of Trustees.  They are:

Michael J Greitzer, Partner/President, Miller-Valentine Group, Dayton

With more than 20 years of diverse experience in the commercial real estate industry, Mr. Greitzer directs Miller-Valentine Group’s national efforts and activities related to relationship management, strategic planning and marketing.  Vice Chair of the 2007-2008 OFIC Dayton Campaign, he has a long history of leadership both in commercial real estate professional associations and in community organizations and charities such as the Downtown Dayton Partnership, the Dayton Art Institute, and the Montgomery County Homeless Solutions Policy Board.  Mr. Greitzer is a graduate of Wittenberg University with a B.A. in Business Administration and a B.F.A. in Graphic Design. 

Robert W. Malone, Shareholder, Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, Akron

Mr. Malone joined the law firm as an associate attorney in 1976, was elected a shareholder in 1982 and is currently Chair of the Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Group.  He is on the faculty of the University of Akron Master of Taxation Program, has taught and spoken on business and tax issues at colleges and professional organizations, gives presentations at the Cleveland Tax Institute and has written articles on tax subjects for numerous professional publications.  Mr. Malone serves as a trustee of Hiram College and fills leadership roles in such civic organizations as the Board of Leadership Akron and the Chamber of Akron Government Affairs Committee.   He earned his bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from Mount Union College and his Juris Doctor summa cum laude from The Ohio State University College of Law.

James Marshall, Senior Vice President, U. S. Bank, Cincinnati

Mr. Marshall joined the bank in 1997 and is currently Senior Vice President of U.S. Bank, Private Higher Education Industry Division in Cincinnati.  His area includes both the Eastern and Central Time Zones, and he is responsible for combining the financial products and services of private colleges and universities to create an interactive solution to achieve financial efficiency and effectiveness.  Under Mr. Marshall’s leadership, U.S. Bank’s Campus Banking operation gained national recognition as a groundbreaking financial partner for universities.  Serving U.S. Bank’s 24 states, his responsibilities have also included Workplace Banking, Alumni Banking, Large Corporate Banking and Affinity Associations.  Mr. Marshall received his B.B.A. at The University of Cincinnati with a concentration in accounting and marketing.

Mark R. Thresher, President & Chief Operating Officer, Nationwide Financial Services, Inc., Columbus

In 1996 Mark Thresher joined Nationwide as vice president and treasurer.  He is presently serving as president and chief operating officer of Nationwide Financial Services, Inc.  A member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Association of Ohio Life Insurance Companies and the Financial Services Roundtable, Mr. Thresher serves on the Board of Directors of the American Council of Life Insurers, where he chairs the Executive Roundtable Committee and serves on the Retirement & Financial Security Steering Committee.  He was a Congressional delegate for the 2006 National Summit on Retirement Savings.  Mr. Thresher earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Otterbein College and is now a member of the college’s board of trustees, serving on the investment operations committee and chairing the audit committee.

OFIC is the primary corporate and foundation solicitation organization for 35 independent Ohio colleges and universities and operates one of the largest, most comprehensive and diverse scholarship management services in the state.  OFIC member colleges collectively enroll nearly 97,000 students and award one-third of all bachelor’s degrees in the state. For 58 years OFIC has worked to highlight the leadership, value and excellence of independent higher education and has provided unrestricted operating funds and scholarship commitments through funds raised in annual solicitations of businesses and foundations, thereby assuring continuation of excellence in private higher education. OFIC is governed by a Board of Trustees comprised of Ohio’s corporate leaders, as well as presidents of the 35 member colleges.

The member colleges are:  Antioch College, Ashland University, Baldwin-Wallace College, Bluffton University, Capital University, Cedarville University, University of Dayton, Defiance College, Denison University, The University of Findlay, Franciscan University of Steubenville, Franklin University, Heidelberg College, Hiram College, John Carroll University, Kenyon College, Lake Erie College, Lourdes College, Malone College, Marietta College, Mount Union College, Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Muskingum College, Notre Dame College, Oberlin College, Ohio Dominican University, Ohio Northern University, Ohio Wesleyan University, Otterbein College, Urbana University, Ursuline College, Walsh University, Wilmington College, Wittenberg University and The College of Wooster.
